1961

In the first round of the Championship in June 1961 Kilmihil defeated Kilfenora on the score of 1-7 to 0-6.
“This game, played in fine but blustery weather, never reached any great heights, and the small crowd had little to enthuse over. At the closing stages, a rock-like Kilmihil defence kept the North Clare side from snatching victory, but the Kilmihil goal, scored in the first half, when they had the wind behind them, paved the way for their victory. For Kilmihil Dan Finucane was outstanding at half-back, and brought off some spectacular clearances, when Kilfenora were pressing towards the end. He gave good cover to goalie Anglim, and also did well, while Cullen and Hedderman proved sound in the half-back line. At centre-field O’Connor and Pat Galvin showed up well, while Mc Mahon, Anglim, Callinan and Browne did well up front, particularly when Kilmihil were on the offensive in the one-sided first half.
Final score:- Kilmihil 1-7 Kilfenora 0-6
