Junior

The Junior team reached the final of the Banner Cup on 5th July 1996. The game was played at Quilty against Kilfenora.

Aided by the breeze in the first half Kilfenora built up a strong lead and were always in control. They led at half time 2-7 to 0-6. The Kilfenora defence dominated throughout and limited Kilmihil to just 1 point from play.

Final score: Kilfenora 2-12  Kilmihil 1-7 

Senior Championship

Kilmihil met the reigning Champions, Doonbeg in the first round of the Senior Championship at Cooraclare on 21st July. Doonbeg had wind advantage in the first half but Kilmihil were first to score with a point from a free by Nigel Russell and this was followed by a point from play by Enda O’Halloran. Doonbeg replied with two points and then added a goal. Kilmihil responded with a point from Enda O’Halloran but Doonbeg added two more points to give them a four point lead at half time. Kilmihil opened the second half with a point from a free by Nigel Russell but from there on Doonbeg took control and dominated in all areas and ran out comfortable winners. By the end of the game Kilmihil had seven of the previous years minor team on the field.
