Senior Championship

Kilmihil were drawn against Kilmurry Ibrickane in the preliminary round of the Senior Championship. The game was played at Cusack Park and it turned out to be a very poor contest with both sides guilty of substandard play. This was probably one of the worst Championship displays by a Kilmihil team in years and the Clare Champion was scathing in its report. It ended with a five point victory for Kilmurry Ibrickane.

Geraldine League 2000

Kilmihil met Killimer in the Geraldine League final on 4th November 2000 at Roslevan. Killimer entered this contest as favourites having beaten Kilmihil in an earlier play off and led at half time on a score of 0-4 to 0-2. In the third quarter Killimer edged further ahead, 0-6 to 0-3. However Kilmihil fought back with two points but Killimer replied with two points to leave the score at 0-8 to 0-5. Kilmihil finished strongly to level the score at 8 points each.

Carron was the venue for the replay and at full time the sides were still level at 5 points each. There was some controversy over Kilmihil’s equalising score with Killimer arguing that the ball was wide however the match officials were happy that it was a point. In the first period of extra time Kilmihil scored 2 points while Killimer scored 1. At this stage Kilmihil were beginning to get on top and in the second period of extra time Kilmihil scored 4 points while Killimer could only manage one.

The final score was Kilmihil 0-11   Killimer 0-7.
