Kilmihil qualified for the Semi-Final of the Senior Championship when they recorded a 2 point victory over Miltown Malbay on 24th July at Doonbeg. Miltown dominated the first half and led at half-time 0-5 to 0-1, however Kilmihil took control in the second half to win by 2 points.

On 14th August Kilmihil met Doonbeg in the Semi-Final of the Senior Championship at Kilrush. Normally contests between these two sides tend to be close and low scoring however on this occasion the Kilmihil challenge collapsed and Doonbeg completely dominated the game to win by 1-9 to 0-3.

In the Cusack Cup Kilmihil beat Cooraclare by 1-7 to 0-6 to qualify for a Semi-Final

meeting against Miltown Malbay. Kilmihil dominated this contest and won by 4 points on the score of 3-5 to 2-4.

Scorers: James Pender and Kieran Normoyle 1-1 each, Padraic Cotter 0-2, John Browne & Michael Garvey 0-1 each.

On 28th August 1983 Kilmihil met Doonbeg in the Final of the Cusack Cup and once more Doonbeg won by 1 point, the final score was Doonbeg 0-7, Kilmihil 1-3.

Scorers: Stan Lineen 1-0 (penalty) Padraic Cotter 0-2 & John Browne 0-1.
